Gavin Richardson started his security career at the age of 18 whereby he “worked his first door” and took on his first client as a body guard. Over the years he has undergone extensive training and skill development programs that have opened the door to numerous job opportunities both at home in the UK and aboard. He has extensive knowledge and practical hands on experience that make him a valued member of the team. As a close protection officer he has worked with clients all over the UK and USA, he has taken in all roles within the team from SAP to TL. He continues his own development and research and seeks out people of influence in order to help him gain a deeper and more effective understanding of his roles and responsibilities. As his skill set and knowledge has improved he has worked his up the ladder within different security organisations to the point whereby he is now the head of training and operations director with the Professional Bodyguards Association.
Gavin’s Martial Arts training began in 1984 and he continues to study and develop his skills to this day. He has studied lots of different disciplines over the years and has developed an understanding of what works and how to teach it to students from all backgrounds.

As a Physical intervention Instructor, he is responsible for the training and development of the staff, both in the UK and USA. His duties include physical intervention training and hand to hand combat where he teaches weapon awareness courses covering anti knife and edged weapon technique through to gun and knife disarming techniques. These techniques are incorporated in to the close protection tactical training modules
Gavin writes that during his time teaching, he has developed outstanding communication skills, having worked with a diverse group of people of all age’s races, genders and abilities. He has fantastic leadership and interpersonal skills, and considers himself a very good listener who can follow instructions given to him as well able to delegate tasks to others when needed. He shows a willingness to tackle any task with determination, commitment, tenacity and enthusiasm.
